BE STILL MY BEATING HEART!

Our sweet boy is getting so big!! 29 pounds to be exact!! He is becoming somewhat less demanding during the day, a little bit more willing to adventure around the house on his own. In full crawling mode, he is getting into everything. He will bypass all infant appropriate toys and head for anything that he really shouldn't play with. Which for whatever reason, always amazes me. It has taken me two kids to realize that the darn cardboard box will get more use than whatever thing I just HAD to buy them. I mean, really, how could you be more enthralled with that dog kibble than a nice whirly-twirly noise making machine? I really should clear out the whole house of toys and see them go to town. And I am actually quite the minimalist when comes to toys.

And then to other subjects...such as the last post. I am sugar, flour and diet coke free. And yes, I feel better but I am in mourning for my most dearest friends (mentioned above). I am hoping to just kind of reset the barometer of normal eating. Normal, is not eating swedish fish and rolos in front of the TV. Note to the husband who never gains weight and thinks this is normal...you are ruining my dietary life!!:) In his defense, this husband also runs just about every day. So fine, eat your stinking Jr. mints!!!!!!!!!!!

Uggggghhhh!!

Do you ever just have the best intentions??? And the intentions that you have are of the dietary sort? When I woke up today it was coffee and steel-cut oatmeal. For lunch, I visualized low-fat cottage cheese and tomatoes. I was so strong for about 2 hours. What did I actually have for lunch? Hmmmmmm, buttered toast, 1/2 PB&J sandwich(you know, I wouldn't want to waste food), 1/2 sausage and my all time nemesis of self-control....diet coke. WOW!!!! My discipline is staggering!! I am left speechless by the sturdiness of my character. I wouldn't feel bad if that was just one day. However, this has been going on for months and my uuhhh, behind is making a fine display of my dietary indiscretions. And let me tell you, no, I did not give birth to my 3rd child but I sure feel like I did.

DID YOU SEE LANCE????

The AMGEN Tour of California passed through our little town. Yes, people, RIGHT NOW, Lance Armstong is sleeping down the street!!! I was at work today(hmmppfff) but Rob took the kids to see the tour pass by. It was over in well, just a few seconds. You can see it here. I'm sure our kids were just thrilled to be there (not at all) and I was really bummed to miss it.

I have no idea what the crazy sounds on the video are.....

REACHING NEW LEVELS OF INSANITY

You know when you start out with your first baby? All prepared for any moment that could possibly happen? Tylenol, toys, wipes, diapers are always at your reach. The second baby comes and gosh, you know, MOST the time you have what you need but there are definitely times you don't. You just have to look a little harder because you're not as organized. Oh, THERE are the wipes and diapers (geez, it's a good thing there's one more!). The third one comes along and now I pretty much NEVER have what I need, despite serious efforts toward a more organized life. Well, today, I have reached new depths. Elias was crying, shall we say "strenuously" and we were on a bit of a road trip. Desperate for a toy, I dug a straw (he loves them) out the trash, gave it a quick clean up because I could actually find the wipes and voila, happy baby. It's just one of those moments where you look at yourself and say, "Did I really just dig something out of the trash and give it to my baby? REALLY????"
